Tens of thousands of years ago, early human life communicated meaning through engravings on cave walls. A few hundred years ago, the printing press was invented, which transformed the way meaning was transferred. Then, at the crest of the 19th century, came the radio. Now, over the past hundred years, we’ve witnessed the advent of television, the internet, podcasts, social media, ecommerce, and so much more.

This is actually a common misconception. If done properly, deploying digital in the radio space will actually reduce your overall cost of acquisition (CAC).
Average CAC is actually on the rise in radio, and this is a byproduct of the 24% of local ad buyers that are actively trimming their radio ad spend. This means less spend from regular clients, or lost accounts entirely. And where are these accounts and these budgets going? To the digital marketing agency down the road.
The average CAC of a marketing agency is actually among the lowest in the B2B landscape, clocking in at $141. And we know that the ideal LTV (lifetime value) to CAC ratio is 3:1, which means that these agencies only need to earn $423 per account to sustain growth. Depending on the station, that can be the cost of a single radio ad. BUT, as a radio station, you are going to have a hard time hitting this CAC—at least initially.

As we saw earlier, radio ad spends are maturing and stagnating in the US, and many local ad buyers are trimming radio budgets, so it will only become more difficult to earn new market share with radio alone.
