Not only does VendAsta have a staff of some of best software developers in the province, we also support the next generation of computer nerds by helping sponsor competitions held by the Computer Science department at the U of S.
Most recently, we sponsored prizes for the Spring Programming Competition which was held on March 5th.
Nine team participated and six teams advanced. The contest was structured a bit differently this year; they opened up the list of available languages to include Ruby, Python, Perl, Prolog, Scheme, ML, and Haskell. Interesting, they only had one submission in Prolog and one in Ruby; all others were done in the ACM- sanctioned languages (Java, C, and C++). For more info on the competition click here.
The first place winners in the Advanced category were Jordan Johns and Steven Heidel and the Novice winner was Mathieu Durocher. Second place went to Ripon Saha, Parvez Asaduzzaman, and Sharif Uddin in the Advanced category and Roan Cooney, Richard Rance, and Drew Richards in the Novice. Third place went to Jillian Slind, Teresa Hume, and Katherine Schramm in the Advanced and Ivan Vendrov and Matthew Vooght in the Novice.
Congrats to all the winners! (and don’t forget to apply at VendAsta when you graduate!)
