Daily Deal Platform 3S spreads to Pennsylvania and Maine.

We’ve got two new group buying sites up and running for Daily Deal Platform 3S.

VendAsta, in partnership with ImmersiFind, has teamed up with the Times-Leader of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, on the NEPA Daily Deal. The first deal, $15 for a $30 voucher at The River Grille, went up this morning.

NEPA is short for Northeast Pennsylvania. Wilkes-Barre, population 43,000, is the birthplace of Planter’s Peanuts (founded by Amedeo Obici in 1906), the site of Babe Ruth’s longest home run (at an exhibition game in Artillery Park in 1926), and the first town to receive HBO (in 1972). Wilkes-Barre is a half hour down the road from Scranton, which is of course the setting of the US version of The Office. There are more than half a million people in the Scranton-Wilkes-Barre metropolitan area.

We’ve also partnered with MaineToday Media, who operate three newspapers in Maine. The Maine Deal will be offering deals in Portland, Augusta, and Waterville. The Portland site went up today – the first deal is $13 for $25 worth of barbecue at Famous Dave’s in Scarborough.

Portland has a population of 62,000, with over half a million in the metro area. Last year it was ranked as America’s Most Livable City by Forbes, and America’s “Foodiest” Small Town by Bon Appetit. I didn’t know anything about Portland five minutes ago, but now I want to move there.

Note: Edited December 9 to add links to Wikipedia pages for Wilkes-Barre and Portland. Incidentally, I just discovered from closer perusal of Wilkes-Barre’s Wikipedia page that we’ve been saying it wrong; it should be pronounced “Wilksberry“.
